Bridge the Translation Gap, Get More Clients in Less Time
Most female entrepreneurs are taught treats sales cycles like they're a math problem. More leads, more touchpoints, more follow-ups, eventually more sales. Add enough volume to a leaky funnel and you'll hit your numbers. That's not wrong. It's slow and expensive.
The speed of recognition is often overlooked. A prospect doesn't buy the moment she understands what you do, she buys the moment she feels understood by you, and that moment can happen on touchpoint one or touchpoint eleven, depending entirely on whether you're speaking her language or yours. That's power of bridging the Translation Gap.
Every sentence you write in internal, expert, textbook language forces her to do the work of translating it into her own experience before she can decide if it applies to her. That translation labor is friction, and friction is what turns a two-call sales process into a six-week nurture sequence. Close the gap, and you're collapsing your entire sales timeline, which means more sales, more quickly. Imagine the relief!
Here are 3 of my recommendations...
1. The One-Sentence Mirror as a Pre-Qualifying Filter
Most women use their Client Words Bank to write better sales pages. Fewer women use it as a filtering mechanism at the very top of the funnel in the headline of an ad, the subject line of a cold email, the first sentence of an outreach DM.
When your very first sentence uses the prospect's own exit language the words she used when she gave up on a competitor, or vented in a comment section, not your polished industry phrase for the same idea two things happen simultaneously. The wrong-fit people self-select out immediately, because it doesn't resonate. And the right-fit people arrive already halfway sold, because the very first thing they read felt like you'd been listening in on their internal monologue.
This is different from "speaking to pain points." Most people already try to do that but they do it in their own summarized, professionalized version of the pain point. The mirror only works when it's her actual phrasing, unedited. That's the difference between a lead who needs three more touches to trust you and one who books the call already trusting you.
2. Naming the Blind Spot Gap Before She Asks
Of the three gaps in the diagnostic β knowledge, application, and blind spot β the blind spot gap is the one almost nobody markets to directly, because by definition the prospect doesn't know it's there. She's not searching for it. She's not going to bring it up on a call. But it's usually the actual reason she's stuck.
Most marketing waits for the prospect to identify her own problem and then positions the offer as the solution. That's a slow model β it requires her to already have language for what's wrong before you can even start selling. Naming the blind spot for her, specifically and confidently, skips that entire step. Instead of "Here's how I can help once you know what you need," it becomes "Here's the thing you didn't know was the actual problem", which creates immediate, felt urgency rather than the slow-burn urgency of a nurture sequence.
This only works if the blind spot you name is genuinely accurate. Vague or generic "you don't know what you don't know" framing reads as manipulative, but when it's specific, drawn from real client language, it does something a features list never can: it ends the sales conversation before it starts, because she's no longer evaluating whether you understand her problem. You just proved it. Woo Hoo!
3. Feeding Her Own Words Back in the Follow-Up, Not a New Pitch
The standard follow-up sequence is built to reintroduce new angles, new proof points, new urgency, essentially, re-pitching from a slightly different direction each time. It's built on the assumption that if the first pitch didn't land, a different pitch might.
The faster path is often the opposite: instead of a new pitch, reflect her own words back to her, verbatim, from whatever she said on the call, in the DM, or in the discovery form. Not summarized. Not professionalized. Her words, in a follow-up that says, essentially, "You told me X, here's exactly how this addresses that." This collapses the number of touches needed because it removes the thing slowing her down: uncertainty about whether you actually heard her, versus just categorized her into a sales script.
People rarely need to be convinced a second or third time by new information. They need confirmation that the first conversation actually landed. Give her that confirmation in her own language, and you shorten the gap between "interested" and "signed" dramatically often collapsing what would've been a multi-touch sequence into a single follow-up.
The Real Math
Closing the Translation Gap isn't a nice-to-have for brand voice. It's a direct methodology on how long your sales cycle is, because every ounce of translation labor you remove from acquiring prospects is time you get back on your calendar. Speak her language from the first sentence, name what she can't yet see, and reflect her own words back to her and you'll find you need fewer touches, not more, to get to yes.
This is the exact process behind the Market Message Clarity Sprint β mining the real language already sitting in your DMs, reviews, and call transcripts, and turning it into a sales page and follow-up sequence that gets you to yes faster.
